For the seventh year in a row, the Ethisphere Institute has named Ford Motor Company to its list of "World's Most Ethical Companies." The annual list recognizes companies that mandate ethical business practices and promote corporate citizenship. Ford is the only automaker to earn a spot on the list.
The distinction is an important one, as consumers continue to place greater emphasis on business ethics. According to the 2016 Harris Poll Reputation Index, more than one-third of respondents will refuse to do business with a company with a perceived negative reputation. In recognition of this, Ethisphere's list honors the companies with top ratings in five categories: ethics and compliance, corporate citizenship and responsibilities, culture of ethics, governance and leadership and reputation.
“Ford understands that trust is the cornerstone of everything it does, and their commitment to being an active part of a global community helps explain why they are the only automaker Ethisphere has recognized every year since 2010,” said Timothy Erblich, Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer. “Being honored for the seventh time is no small achievement. Congratulations to everyone at Ford for being recognized.”
