Oil gradually loses its additive package and its ability to carry heat and debris, even when it does not look dirty. For a 2023 Ford F-350-Super-Duty, following the vehicle’s maintenance guidance helps support engine protection. An oil-change reminder, dark or low oil on the dipstick, or a ticking or louder start-up sound can indicate that service attention is appropriate.

• Oil carries heat away from engine components
